If you are looking to travel to the show me state this summer, I have got a treat for you! Since I
am from Missouri and based out of St. Ann, I know all the best tips and tricks for the ultimate
budget travel guide of Missouri. I know all the best places to go to that are either free or cost
next to nothing. It is so incredibly easy to have a fun vacation in Missouri, as there are endless
amounts of attractions to go to that won’t make you weep when looking at your bank account
upon leaving.
It is so incredibly easy to have a fun vacation in Missouri, as there are endless amounts of
attractions to go to that won’t make you weep when looking at your bank account upon leaving.
Lets first talk about the places that offer the most amount of fun things to do for free. Missouri
has so many prime spots where people tend to flock to so in response to that amount of traffic of
people coming and going, the cities have to have something to offer. St. Louis, Springfield, The
Ozarks, Kansas City and Jefferson City and the biggest areas that offer the most to do that will fit
right into your budget, no problem.
Here are my top free things to do from the best spots in Missouri.
St. Louis, Missouri
Forest Park and The Zoo
Forest Park is one of the largest urban parks in the United States, with 1,371 acres of trails, fountains, museums, and the best zoo in the United States. The St. Louis Zoo is world renowned with 90 acres and 18,000 exotic animals. The best part is all of this is absolutely free! But there may be a charge for any certain special exhibits, just keep that in mind. However, admission to The Zoo is 100% free.
Springfield, Missouri
Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World draws more than 4 million visitors each year and is the most visited single attraction in all of Missouri. You don’t even have to buy anything at Bass Pro to have a great time with their 30,000 gallon saltwater fish tank and window shopping. Take the family for budget friendly fun!
Lake Of The Ozarks, Missouri
The Lake Of The Ozarks is pretty hard to go to for absolutely free with hotel fees, outlet malls, and boat rentals but there is a ton of free fun things to do if you know where to look.
Ha Ha Tonka is one of those spots I stumbled across one day searching for somewhere to hike on the way back to St. Louis from the Lake Of The Ozarks. There are the gorgeous natural springs located at the bottom of the park that you can either drive to hike to. The architecture and breathtaking scenery combined to make Ha Ha Tonka State Park one of Missouri’s most treasured spots.
Kansas City, Missouri
One of the free attractions in Kansas City (the Missouri side of Kansas City) is the Money Museum. It is so incredibly interesting. You can lift a gold bar worth $400,000 dollars and might be the only time in your life that you hold that much money all at once! This one is definitely a must see!
Jefferson City, Missouri – The Capital!
Being the state capital, Jefferson City offers tons of free options for site seeing and museum walking. The Missouri State Museum admission is free and located inside the ‘Capitol’. Visit the museum and take in all of the great history Missouri has. There are a few hidden gems here you don’t want to miss!
