This Summer has been different but an epic season. Being home fulltime with my hyperactive six-year-old definitely has opened my eyes a bit. Literally being on the go from wakeup to bedtime. Going from activity to activity to keep his learning up. With the Summer season-ending, I figured I would try and do something laid back we can all enjoy. An end of the Summer backyard ice cream party. Something we can do to just slow down but have fun. I love that I could grab everything from ice cream, condiments, candy, and decor. I was even able to pick up water balloons for A. He is obsessed with being wet especially during this hot humid season this year. I was able to pick up all of these goodies from our local Stop & Shop.
Did you know the month of August holds National days for ice cream sandwich, root beer and even waffle day!
I thought it would be fun to celebrate and include all of these! Plus who doesn’t love ice cream?
We all like to send off the Summer season with something fun. That is why I figured to put together this fun ice cream party outdoors. Even though half the day we try and set some time inside for being indoors for downtime (its been 90+ degrees). I asked A what he wanted to do with just him and I before school starts back up and he said mommy I want ice cream!
How to set up an ice cream party outdoors?
We live in a rural area so we have a netted canopy on our backside porch. The bugs can be crazy but we love to sit outdoors in the evening. This is also perfect during the day when A is outdoors and wants me to be outside too! It’s okay if you do not have one but it can be handy with the little ones.
1. The Essentials
Ice cream, drinks, slushies and cones of course. Stop & Shop has so many different varieties of ice cream. We got a few different flavors everyone would love but also something for me. My fave lately has been Cold Brew by Enlightened.
2. Condiments
You can’t go wrong with toppings. Everything from hot fudge, caramel, chocolate sprinkles and candy. I grabbed the Milky Way in the clearance section so make sure you always check those side and end caps in the store.
3. Fruit
I’ve been trying to eat healthier. If you’re not into eating ice cream fruit is a great addition. Like these mixed fruit waffle bowls. You can even add frozen or refrigerated Greek yogurt.
We had so much fun putting this shindig together. From helping me blow up water balloons to putting out all these goodies. Then, eating them.
What is your end of Summer last hurrah?

I love the idea of celebrating the end of summer with an ice cream party. You did such a fun job putting it all together as well. Nice work!

What a good idea! I love this party idea to end the summer <3

This is a great idea for anyone with kids. Since I don’t have children, I’ll be sharing this with my mom friends š Good post!

Melted peanut butter is also a great topping for ice cream sundaes! Just microwave it until it’s nice and loose and pour over the ice cream. I’ve heard if you mix in some coconut oil it firms up like magic shell (though I haven’t tried that yet).

Heather GonzalesThat sounds pretty good too. I’ll have to try this the next time.

I love hosting and attending summer ice-cream parties! In the California heat these events are becoming super popular! It’s so fun to see how you host your parties. I love all the different ice cream flavors and toppings! Yum. Yum!

YUM! Waffle cones and waffle bowls are my favorite! I could take or leave the ice cream lol, but give me that cone! This looks like a super fun party idea.

Love it! I think the next time we do Adult Game Night I am going to set up a Fun Ice Cream Bar with all of these essentials! Though, Ice Cream is my one indulgence so I may stock up more on the decadent toppings rather than the fruit.
Love that you had an A&W Rootbeer in there for those who wanted floats too. Love Root beer floats. I think for extra toppings I would see if they have those Halloween type snack packs of Mini candies like M&Ms, Mini Kit Kats, Mini Twix, Reeses Pieces, etc…Don’t Judge, I know I have a problem!
Krystin
This looks like the perfect summer celebration! Love all the ice cream!

I’ve never had an ice cream party before, but it sounds like a lot of fun! Summer has been hectic for me as well, so I could definitely use one.
