Sometimes as a mama bear you look at motherhood either from a positive or negative perspective instead of both. Thank you Stephanie from Sic Mama for nominating me for this challenge. You can check out her post HERE and also you can continue reading to see how I am rocking motherhood below:
As a mama of a three-year old that has ADHD and being on a budget, it can be rough at times but so worth it. Finding things to get through those battles is what gives me more drive.
I rounded up the top ten reasons I’m rocking motherhood.
1. Having a miscarriage prepared me: A is considered to be a rainbow baby. I suffer from Polycystic Ovarian Sydrome which you may hear about often if you’re a longtime reader or subscriber. Because I gained 40 pounds from PCOS when I was 19 it took me 3 years to get rid of it. Ask any doctor the average time it takes a normal woman to lose say 15 pounds it takes a woman with PCOS 3x as long and has to work as hard for it as well. Fast forward to me being 22 years old my body decided to regulate from the weight loss and voila I was pregnant. By the time I got over the fear of being a broke pregnant college student, I was about 9 weeks. I had my first appointment and the doctor had said I had a “missed miscarriage”. I did get overly depressed and realized I was meant to be a mama bear. 2 weeks later I had a d & c and 4 weeks after that I conceived A. Since then I take being a mama bear so highly. I know when the time is right #2 will come right along after I get over this battle of weight gain I’m still trying to lose.
2. I’m patient: A suffers from ADHD. Last Summer he was officially diagnosed. I always knew there was something going on. The hyperactivity, the over stimulation, the behavior patterns at times and just knowing places I can and cannot take him. With that comes the responsibility of being able to deal with the times your child may act out or seem like their not behaving. Since starting pre-k part-time he has done so much better. The structure really helps. We put him in a home based day care which was paid by our income. At the time it felt like one of the worst parenting decisions. Always hearing complaints of how my son was acting out when it was never him. He was a rambunctious and curious two-year old. Because this was run by the state they tried bringing in a specialist that thought he had sensory craving behavior leading up to Autism.
“Like you’re not a medical professional”
The cost of daycare is ridiculous. He was sent to a pediatric neurologist and diagnosed and put on an IEP which honestly is how he is in pre-k now.
3. I sit and think wth was I doing before: The days I worked 2 jobs and came home by 12am I totally understand. But before leaving my last job I never understood what I did all day before having babies. Like how am I raising a toddler and running a blog at the same time and way back when I was tired. Like whattttt? Motherhood and being tired is nothing like your college days.
4. Being on a budget isn’t the worse: I have a knack in finding the deals on clothing, home items and more. Hence why I started this blog. My husband and I find other things to do instead of spending tons of money on things we don’t need to.
5. I never knew I could love someone so small: I know every mom says that. But really. Now that he’s getting older I can’t snuggle with him but he can actually tell me how he is doing and ” I love you mommy”. The first time I heard those words I legit cried.
Those are a few reasons on how I am rocking motherhood.

I had a very similar experience with a missed miscarriage. It was a rough time. I have a Rainbow baby as well. Glad you worked through it. These are great reasons you are rocking motherhood!

You are definitely rocking motherhood! I too think I have adhd but have not been to a doctor about it. Some days I am all over the place and I always think I wont know what to do once my kids are all grown and out of the house….the silence and lack of always doing something is going to be horrible.
And yes, daycare is outrageous!
Jalisa
Bernadette Callahan (Aimless Moments)Thanks. At one point we were like forget it. Now I stay home with the munchkin. Until he goes to kindergarden. Pre-k is only for 2.5 hours a day which is nearly enough time aday.

I can’t wait until my son can tell me he loves me. Until then, I just tell him every day… multiple times per day! Hopefully one day soon he will say it back. 🙂
Jalisa
mamabopsIt will happen and then he won’t stop. It’s definitely an amazing milestone.

Hey you cheated! You only did 5! 😉 Just kidding. I had to split mine up because it was so hard for me to think up reasons! But you did a great job finding them, and it sounds like you’re doing a great job with motherhood. I’m still waiting on my first “I love you” from my youngest..I bet I’ll cry too! I nearly did with my older daughter!
