The Meaning Of The Holidays
They say it’s all in the gene’s. Family that is. Holidays are about the gift of giving but they are also about getting to know your family even better. Throughout the year we all get so busy you don’t have much time between sports, parent teacher conferences, work and home life to get together with your whole extended family. Since my son was born 4 years ago he has been what they say “the glue that binds us all“. With that I realized how important family is.
Over the last year my husbands side of the family had all indulged in doing some type of dna or ancestry kit. One of his aunts is always talking about how she met a long lost cousin or relative. I always see how excited she gets. I had always found it so interesting to hear the percentages of ethnicties they were. I just never took the plunge. All I know is I am part Dominican from my Dad, my mom is half French Canadian and half Black. Nothing ever in between. Now that I am a mom my son carries a whole ton of ethnicities. I was so glad when I was able to have the opportunity to try 23andMe. Learning about your heritage and even finding more about yourself.
The dna kit comes with the easiest instructions. Easy is my middle name. You first have to fill out your profile based on your barcode which is on your tube. You have the option to answer the health questions. You can even download their app to make things easier. The process takes about six weeks but the anticipation makes things well worth the wait.
from sending out until you receive.
This holiday season is the best time to give the gift of family with 23andMe. It’s not all about the price tag but the meaning of the gift. Would you want to know more about the family you may have? The holidays is a great time to get them a personalized type of gift.
