Enjoying a nice appetizer is always a nice twist when having family over for any event or just for Sunday dinner. As a Latina mom finding a great oil is essential. I recently attended a cooking class and was intrigued that corn oil is actually one of the best oils to use when cooking in the kitchen. I love sharing my homemade recipe for beef turnovers or in Hispanic culture they’re called pastellitos.
Mazola® Corn Oil has always been a family favorite. It’s an all-purpose cooking oil that is a smart heart-healthy choice for your family. When you have little ones that’s definitely something you should consider. Plus it’s also cholesterol free and has become a healthful tradition in America. Having a neutral taste is a big one for many since they don’t want to alter any tastes that many dishes have. Being able to use for when sauteeing is something many in Hispanic culture envy and love. A recent study has found that adding Mazola® Corn Oil to one’s diet resulted in lower cholesterol levels than Coconut Oil. A previous study found that corn oil can also help lower cholesterol more than extra virgin olive oil. To learn more about the study, see Mazola.com.
The fact that corn oil has a neutral taste is a big one for many because with a neutral taste, the oil will not alter any flavor your ingredients have. Corn oil is also very versatile and the fact that it can be used in so many cooking situations, such as sautéing, is something many in Hispanic culture love. The work “lighter” when it comes to cooking has always had a stigma that the food doesn’t taste good. But, just swapping out three simple ingredients or cooking techniques for better-for-you ones is a super easy and delicious way to start.
With this recipe: Beef turnovers, you can swap out Mazola Corn Oil for any other oil you are using. It can help reduce cholesterol and keeps the natural taste of whatever dish you decide to cook. Also, you can bake them instead of frying. They end up tasting even better. Lastly, the right dough can be important. Swapping out white for wheat can be just as delicious and better for you.
Since A was born, I have been accustomed to living a lighter lifestyle and have developed a new love for food. Since last year I have spoken about how I am always looking for ways to help myself and my family live a better lifestyle. I am always trying to find ways, without having to feel like we are sacrificing too much. That’s what happens when you suffer from Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.
