Back to school food ideas for every kid
We’re officially in that back-to-school season. The busy season. Kids are always hungry or asking for snacks. Even more than usual. Finding some great foods and recipes that can help those hunger pains can help us as moms destress but also kids too. I was able to find some easy back to school food ideas to incorporate before school and after school which is always a plus. Not just after school or before dinner but also for the mornings before school too.
Feeding America®

September is Hunger Action Month. That’s where Feeding America ® comes into play. They are dedicated to driving awareness and inspiring action to help end hunger in America, both on a national scale and on the ground in local communities. They are the largest hunger-relief organization. They have over 200 food banks. They’re able to provide meals to over 40 million people each year.
Attaining food has become a problem in our society. With today’s crisis, it’s not over. There is still plenty of people ( in the millions) who struggle daily to keep food on the table for families. They always have to choose between food and other necessities like medicine, electricity, or childcare.
You can visit www.feedingamerica.org/hungeractionmonth to take action and find out more about this organization.
Veggies Made Great

I’ve picked up this brand before and was very intrigued by their concept especially when you have kids who are picky eaters. I love the fact that veggies are the first and primary ingredient in every Veggies Made Great product. All their products are veggie-rich, gluten-free, nut-free, and pretty delicious. Even says Avery. Plus they include high protein which is a great plus when it comes to kids too.
We’ve enjoyed their Spinach Egg White Frittata for a quick breakfast. We’re always running out the door for the bus so these make a great quick breakfast. Their first ingredient is veggies of course. They also have 5g of protein and only 70 calories.

Then for a quick snack or after school, their double chocolate muffins are a hit. They include zucchini and carrots as their first two ingredients which is almost 30% of their veggies. They are 110 calories and because we love muffins knowing they have lower sugar than the leading muffin is a big win in our household. What kid doesn’t love chocolate. I’ve been packing these in Avery’s snack since he doesn’t eat much at school. He eats these right up.
You can find out more about them on their website www.veggiesmadegreat.com and also find them in their freezer section. Grab a coupon to save on them HERE
Mighty Sesame Organic & Harissa Tahini

Mighty Sesame Harissa Tahini- Whole seed tahini mixed with Harissa Spice. It’s full of spice packed in a squeeze bottle. Plus it has a great source of protein, something I’ve been trying to give Avery more of lately. It also includes 260 mg of calcium in just one serving.
If you or your kids are vegan friendly this makes a great swap too since it’s a vegan replacement for mayo. You can honestly use it on any dish, not just a sandwich but even as a dressing and even shakes if you please.
A little more info on them is below:

King Arthur Baking Company

King Arthur Baking provides the highest quality ingredients for the most delicious baked goods. You can find them available in supermarkets nationwide. We’ve been on a homemade pancake and waffle kick on the weekends so we love using their pancake mix. They have both buttermilk and confetti pancake mixes.
- Their mix is made with real buttermilk.
- All you have to do is just add water.
- Plus it comes in a resealable pouch which is important for our household.
- It’s also sourced non-GMO
- Just add water
- They have colorful sprinkles. They don’t include synthetic colors or artificial ingredients! ( This is huge since Avery is a hyperactive kid)
- This mix is only 5 grams of added sugar.
Minute Rice

We use Minute Rice all the time. When we make taco bowls, authentic Spanish food, or just need a side for our dinner. We love using the Minute Ready To Serve individual cups when we’re in a pinch. You get quality rice, simply cooked then dried. They are perfectly portioned so you know you are getting the right amount. These are awesome for on the go or even for kids that eat smaller portion sizes. Avery tends to get hungry on the spot so these work great for him. Plus I even enjoy them while eating lunch at home on my own.
Minute Rice products are available at major retailers, such as Walmart and Target, as well as popular grocery stores across the country, such as Kroger, Publix and more.
They come in Minute Ready To Serve white rice and also brown & wild rice. The minute-ready serve cups are BPA-Free and 100% recyclable.

I hope you get to enjoy these great food options for back to school. Kids can be picky or hungry on the spot so these make great food options for them.
