Something new I’ve been adding to my cheese boards is adding a cheese dipping sauce
I’ve been on a grazing and charcuterie board kick the past few months. Fall is always a time we tend to get our families together on the weekends. A cheese board is always something we’re always putting together. They’re super easy to put together for really any occasion and everyone loves them. Even the kids. With the busy season ahead of us, having grazing, charcuterie, or cheese board is essential. Did you even host if you didn’t have one of these boards?
I recently started making my own cheese dip. I’m obsessed with Colby-Jack cheese everything. A lot of cheese dips and sauces always include the same ingredients and the same type of cheese. I love to mix it up. You have to have a good cheese dip for your crackers to go on your board alongside the meats, cheeses, fruit, and chocolate.

We’re big on meats and cheeses but also love a great dipping sauce to dip the crackers in. It is fun and delicious!
One fun way to make your cheeseboard different is this easy queso cheese dip recipe to add to your cheeseboard. Plus all you need is three ingredients including Argo® Corn Starch. It takes less than 5 minutes to make. When you’re in a crunch this is always affordable and easy to whip up if you end up having an impromptu function.
What you need for this easy cheese dipping sauce?
Argo® Corn Starch is a big component for this cheese dipping sauce. Aside from corn starch, all you need is half and half and your favorite cheese. You can also toss in some salt and seasonings if you wish. I preferably use Colby-Jack and a queso mix of American cheese and mozzarella cheese. I do use a block of cheese and grate it. We love using Argo® Corn Starch since it is Gluten Free and great for creating smooth and thick sauces! Some of our family members prefer Gluten Free so this works out so much better. This corn starch makes the cheese dip thick which is what makes the cheese dip thick.

Steps to create this cheese dipping sauce
- Mix 1 cup of half and half in a bowl with Argo® Corn Starch.
- Whisk up until it is not clumpy.
- Put on low heat.
- Shred cheese. We use a block of cheese instead of already shredded.
- Once liquid boils slowly add in cheese a little at a time.
- Once cheese is fully added into the pan keep stirring until it melts or gets to the desired consistency.
- Voila it’s ready to enjoy
Now that this cheese dip is done it’s time to serve. If you happen to premake this, make sure you heat it on the stove so you can stir it while it’s getting warmed up. It can get clumpy so you can add more half and half if needed.
Pair your dipping sauce with your favorite cheese board essentials
- meats
- cheeses
- crackers
- fruit like grapes, strawberries etc
