Happy holidays friends. Just about a month ago my husband and I visited Las Vegas for the first time. We were there for for his cousins wedding. It was so much fun. Plus we treated it like our honeymoon. When we got married we were not able to take a holiday or honeymoon. My husband just started his career. So we made sure we would do some sightseeing while we were there. Fair warning. Bring comfortable shoes. I averaged about 20k steps per day.
Where To Stay
We stayed at the Luxor Resort & Casino. For a first timer it’s a great place to stay. We honestly got the deal of the lifetime. It was about $100 a day plus tax. In the end we spent about $550. We stayed about 4 days. At the time they were having a promo. Basically put down $50 and pay the rest when you check out. To make it easier we made sure it was paid before we went so we didn’t have it hanging over our head. The Luxor was also right in the middle of the strip so it was easy access to everything.
What To Do
When you get to Vegas it’s literally like another world. You will most likely be offered everything under the sun. It will be enticing but at the same time you probably won’t get to do everything they offer if you already have things planned out already. We decided before hand to get our show tickets. My husband has been in love with Criss Angel since season one of his show so we had to go see him. We purchased Criss Angel tickets from travelvegas.com. They ended up being 50% off the original price. The Luxor is the hotel that he performs at but if you purchase tickets at the hotel they can end up becoming incredibly expensive.
The Stratosphere was a fun attraction. It’s part of a hotel and casino also. Their actual actual attraction is similar to Bostons Top of The Hub. It slowly goes around all of Vegas. They have two options. You can ride up in it for $20 per person or they have a dining option. If you’re a daredevil they have what they call SKYJUMP. It’s their exclusive bungee jump from the top all the way down to the bottom.
The Botanical Gardens at the Bellagio were amazing. As long as you’re not allergic to flowers. It was a far walk from the strip so we took a LYFT. Those were definitely big down there if you weren’t keen to walking.
Freemont Street Vegas is another world. There’s Casinos, street vendors, girls running around etc. I must say though it is the cheapest place to get a drink.
Weddings & Receptions
You always watch movies based on Vegas movies. My husbands cousin got married at The Little Church of The West.
It was honestly the cutest. I never thought people actually got all decked out for these wedding but they do. Then came the reception. It wasn’t like any other reception. Or like ours anyways. We ended up taxing to the Wynn.

I love Vegas! We go a couple of times a year. You are right about Fremont Street…definitely it’s own world 🙂 To me, even better people watching than The Strip.
