This summer is a bit different than years prior, but that does not mean that we cannot or should not have fun with it. Right?! It is still summer and to me, that means that we should all relax a little bit more and have a little bit more fun. If you are struggling to figure out things to do this summer, don’t worry – I have a list created for you! Here are a few ideas of things that you might want to do over the course of the next few weeks or months:
Pull Out Your Books
I don’t know about you, but I never get tired of a new book – no matter if it is a kids book, or a fun fiction book that I am reading myself. I believe that you can find so much knowledge from reading and since school was a bit all over the place during the pandemic, we could all use the extra knowledge that reading brings. No matter what it is that you want to read, there is something for everyone. If you are not a reading lover yourself, you could always do an audible book. That would still be a great way to learn something new and take up your time, in an educational and even inspirational fashion.
Set Up A Backyard Pool
The pool industry is booming! The longer than a lot of neighborhood pools are shut down, the more people are choosing to just go ahead and install their own in-ground (or above-ground) pools to use whenever they want, from the comfort of their home. If you’re an adult looking for a way to cool down or if you are a parent aiming to keep your children occupied and aren’t lucky enough to have an in-ground pool at your house, there are plenty of above-ground options that are both easy to assemble and affordable. The newest trend is inflatable kiddie pools, but not the kind that you are thinking of. The old, small plastic pools are still around, yes, but they also have a ton of really high-quality options too. There are blow up pools with benched seating and cup holders and more. Do a quick Amazon search and you will find something for you, no matter what your needs are!
A Beach Or Mountain Getaway
I think that a beach or mountain getaway is a relatively safe option right now, if you do it correctly. Bring a mask with you and social distance while you are there and you should have no concerns at all. Sunlight is bad for the virus and the outdoors is bad for the virus. If people are on a beach or in the mountains (outside, obviously) and social distance, I do not see what the problem is with an outdoor vacation! With a pool, specifically, Dr. Reingold, who is an epidemiologist says, “My concerns about being in a pool don’t relate to being in the water. They relate to being in a group of people near the water…We don’t really think that this virus can’t survive in a chlorinated swimming pool …obviously many people, when they go to a swimming pool, are involved in a close conversation, they’re involved with changing in the changing room where there are a lot of people around. So I think the concern isn’t with the poolit has more to do with if it is near the pool than actually swimming. So I personally would be prepared to go swimming in a pool. But I will be cautious about the exposures I had to other people getting to the pool and getting out of the pool. And dressed afterward, to me, those would be the risk factors.” Keep that in mind, play it safe, and you are good to go!
Any Wanted Renovations

While you are on that weekend getaway, consider taking advantage of it and having a contractor come in and do any wanted renovations for you while you are gone. Maybe you want popcorn ceilings removed, your flooring replaced, or your walls painted. Whatever it might be, figure out how to make it easy for them. Plan to get those renovations done while you are away on vacation, have your furniture out of the way, and come back to a fresh home!
If you need help moving your furniture or storing it while you are gone and doing renovations, you might want to consider contacting Fresh Start – The Moving Crew. They are a Worcester MA commercial moving company, residential moving company, packing company, and storage company. They are able to store or move your furniture for you, while you are having renovations done to your home. This will save you a lot of time and hassle! Fresh Start – The Moving Crew says, “Don’t worry about pests, humidity, theft, or misplacement. While your items are with us, we take care of all those things. It doesn’t matter your situation; we provide world-class storage solutions for all. Simply let us add your items into one of our sealed packing containers and allow us to place it in our climate-controlled warehouse. Have A Yard Sale
Do you have extra junk around your house? If so, consider having a yard sale this summer…or if you feel more comfortable, have an online sale! There are a ton of websites like Mercari and Poshmark to list items for sale and you can take advantage of Facebook Marketplace, eBay, and Craigslist too.
